Løkken is in many ways a historic city! Originally, the town was a fishing village that became a very successful trading port when skippers began to settle in the town around 1715. This was when the town developed into an important point for trade between Vendsyssel and southern Norway, where grain, butter and meat were exchanged for wood and iron (Løkken By Sommerhuse actually has an office in an old warehouse that stored these goods back then, and today the warehouse consists of nice holiday home apartments and office space).
Since then, Løkken has become an extremely popular place for tourism as a holiday town, and this is where all the lovely beach hotels enter the scene as a popular counterpart to, for example, bathhouses and holiday homes for rent. Løkken Badehotel was originally a barnyard from around 1840, Kallehavegaard Badehotel was at the turn of the century a farm that simultaneously housed summer guests, and Hotel Løkken Strand is originally a school from 1926.
Spend your next holiday at a beach hotel in Løkken
Over time, the charming beach hotels have been continuously renovated, and the three above mentioned are no exception. They are all centrally located in Løkken, close to both the beautiful white sandy beach along the impressive North West Sea as well as the town center full of restaurants and shopping opportunities. Staying at beach hotels in Denmark has always been popular, but the Danish series "Badehotellet" - which started in 2013 - has certainly not diminished the interest in this form of holidaying! It exudes Danish charme to think of sun, summer, sandy beaches, windy weather and Mr. Weise playing the piano in the series.
